Hey all, im still really new to this whole thing so i don't know how much of a help i can be in explaining whats troubling me about my car but i'll try my best. Recently my car has been giving me some pains. But my biggest problem is that its not starting right away, if i turn the key it'll just whirl and whirl, if i pump the accelerator lightly it'll fire and it will start. but if i dont pump the pedel it wont start. Its been going on for about a week or so, me and the old man replaced all 6 spark plugs today, went off without a hitch, changes a few cables and pipes too. put everything back where it was, all nice and snug, turned the key, started without a problem. first few starts it was perfect. but now its gone back to needing a bit of acceleration.

So.. What could it be? air compression? wiring? plug cables need replacing? air filters? could it be the coil packs need replacing? could it be something awful like a blown head gasket?

I can't figure out why it's not starting properly :(

And to compile the situation my clutch pedal seems to be stiff, or at least stiffer that it was before we replaced the plugs and a few hoses. we didnt go anywhere near the clutch, unless its not where i thought it was haha. But is a stiffer clutch a warning of the clutch failing? like it changes gears fine but the pedal itself seems to have alot more a pushback now.

Just two issues that are puzzling me, anyone got any ideas??

I THINK i've figured out why the clutch feels tight, there was a hose i replace with a little air release valve in it. i put the valve in the new hose but i think the valve might have needed replacing, it was leaking when i tried blowing air through it. and i THINK its affecting the power assisted clutch. thoughts?

that valve is the one way check valve, it needs to allow airflow towards the engine but not from it

as for your starting problems sounds like a vacuum leak to me need to check all rubber hoses and make sure none are allowing unmetered air into the system

if the one way check valve isnt sealing properly, thats a problem right? haha. gonna have to replace it. Any idea why my clutch feels tighter now after changing the plugs? :(

If the valve is not sealing properly that is a problem, however if the valve is in backwards it will also cause problems. You need to ensure that air can't go from from the plenum side of the hose toward the booster. However air should be able to flow from the booster side to the plenum.
