I don't know how the other kid hooked the system up to the car.... but...
I have an aftermarket pioneer radio, 4 channel amp, upgraded speakers, mojo amp, mojo subwoofer, eclipse competition EQ...
I keep hearing the engine noise through my speakers, and wondered what basically causes this noise? I want to eliminate the sound all together but don't know what the first step to do... should I remove the whole system he put in and start it from scratch or what?
Thanks.
Dan

I heard of someone installing a frequency blocker back by the amp, it supposed to quiet the engine sound or w/e... anyone know what I am talking about?

this noise is usually the result of cheap plugs or plug wires. it may sound funny, but it happens. try changing your plugs and wires, and make sure their at least oem spec

check the quality of the grounds for your amplifiers and your head unit. A poor ground in either location can create this noise. Also check to see if the RCA cables carrying the audio signal from your radio to the amplifiers is run on the same side of the car as the power wire, they should not be.
And the device designed to elimiate this noise, aka alternator whine, is called a ground loop isolator. But if the equipment is properly grounded it shouldn't be an issue.

Sounds like it's a bad ground, no doubts about it. I've had to deal with it in a couple different cars...some with aftermarket stereos, and others that just got too old.
Make sure they're all clean and tight, and the noise should go away.

:correct:
ground loop
try moving the ground location if cleaning and tightening doesnt fix it.
