I have been working on my car for 4 days... I can't get the transmission back in the car!!! I got it all lined up and everything... I go to push it on it wont push... I can get 2 bolts in and the other side of the transmission is like 2 inches away from the engine mount bolts... I don't know what the fuck to do anymore, I'm half way to junking the fucking car if I don't get this POS back on...
I took the clutch plate off twice to re-align the clutch because I thought that was the problem and it's not... I can't get the fucking transmission back on... The clutch fits the transmission shaft, i took that out and matched it up and it slides right on the tranny... It just wont bolt up or go on... Whats the problem?
I used the alignment tool that came with the clutch...
If I can't get awnsers I am junking this fucking POS and getting a camaro, so much better to work on... FWD cars are a bitch to install the transmission...

Try putting it in gear and turning axle while pushing into place... sounds like splines aren't lined up.
If your sellin I' pay $100 over what junk yard offers:-)

Breathe, dude...the transmission on the 80s Firebirds are worse. Ask me how I know.
You'll get it...and don't give up before the sages (especially Von) chime in.

I've been trying now for exactally 5 days, the trasmission wont slide in... the axels aren't in the tranny... maybe ill put one in and spin it to try and align the transmission with the clutch, I am guessing thats the problem...

Don't worry about the half shaft just make sure that the transmission is level and put a wrench on the crank pully and slowly rotate while pushing the transmission on then breathe open up a beer and relax

did you check to make sure the clutch disc splines easily onto the input shaft of the transmission? FWD trans should slide right in, at first reading thought you were talking about an AWD tranny now there can be a tight fit

I got the transmission in after jacking up on the transmission and dropping it down real fast... hopefully didn't hurt anything lol.
