I have been looking at parts for my 93 dodge stealth and its a SOHC and performance parts are a lot harder to find it seems for the SOHC. Also my car has 156k on the body and the vin matches for DOHC but its not so I do not like how many miles are on the motor. Also you gain a nice jump in horsepower by stepping up to the DOHC but its a nice amount of work and $950 for the engine from this website I found.

I would just like some feedback on what you guys think. Should I just keep the SOHC in the car and tune that and if so do you guys know of any good sites for performance parts for it because I keep coming up with stuff for the twin turbo engines and the regular dohc.

Get in touch with Von (Xwire on here) of Morgan Motorsports, he'll steer you in the right direction. If you're willing to do an engine swap, then your best bet would be to drop in a 3.5L.

As stated above, the best power upgrade you can make on an NA car is to swap the motor over to a 3.5L. It will give you a bigger jump in power than any bolt ons will.

Von has done several of these upgrades so he can help you.

Do you know anyone that has done this from previously having a SOHC 3.0L in there car because it seems like it is not that hard of a swap to do if you had the 6G72 in your car previous but I cant find anyone that had the SOHC and stepped up to a DOHC 3.5L because I would really like to know how much stuff I would have to mod to get the engine to fit. Also would my stock transmission bolt up to a 6G74?

If you can swap a 3.0L DOHC into an SOHC car, then you can do a 3.5L DOHC into an SOHC car in the same way.

Exactly why swap a 3.0L DOHC if you can do a 3.5L DOHC for roughly the same price??

I am going through the same thing, my 1995 stealth was sold to me as a 24v dohc, even says so on the carfax when my vin is put in, but my car redlines at 6k and states dohc nowhere on the engine. So, I understand where you are coming from. I am disappointed, but still love my car, after all, it has 80,000 miles, was garage kept and very clean. I have decided to still put on the cold air intake, change the exhaust and maybe later the headers and pulleys as well. Then do some interior and body mods. It's still a stealth, so it's still peppy. You might not be the quickest, but you can still knock out quite a few "rice patties" and look good doing it! After all, the style of the stealth is one of the main reasons people are attracted to them!
