Hi all.
I live in colorado but I wanted to know what they check down there for emissons. My car is a 92 vr4 but since the car is under my dad's name and since he lives down there and my car is up for plates in december, I thought i might take my car down there so i can get some plates.

Since your car is a 92 you won't have to deal with emissions. Any car that is a 95 or older is exempt. It's one of the best things they've instated in my opinon.

You'll need just a safety inspection, which includes lights, brakes, etc. No emissions, but if you have a CEL on, (even on an older car) depending on how anal the inspection station is, they may not pass you.

Also you have to have a catalytic converter present on the car. Eventhough they won't test for emissions they still require you have one to pass the safety inspection. They can also fail you for exhaust leaks, worn wiper blades, tires with little tread, and worn out brake pads. If you keep up with regular maintainance on the car the only thing you need to check before hand would be wiper blades.

From what I just read from the 'Air Care Colorado' website, they do emissions all the way back to 1982.
EDIT: Lucky you, the TT Stealths and 3000GTs are on a different test process. It might be easier to pass.

you guys have it alot easier than we do. For 3/S's all they do is visual checks( cat and O2's) and they check for emissons at idle since 3/S's are not allowed on the rollers. I guess might go and register my car as a stl car then If it does not pass the test.

Uhm...your test seems alot easier. Do you have a reason to think you wouldn't pass emissions? Also, remember if you register your car in Missouri, you'll need to have your Personal Property Tax Reciepts when you go to the DMV.

Only the 91-95 guys have it easier. The emissions set up now for 96+ is rediculous. Luckily, my 96' Turbo Talon is on an exemption list.

Why the heck do you need tax info in MO for registering a car?

Missouri sucks like that. I finally found out where the title to my car is (over a month after buying it...Wells Fargo in California is where it was at and they are fucking retarded), so I am going to pick it up from my bank tomorrow. After that, I have to go to the DOR and get a personal property tax waiver since I bought the car after Jan. 1st, 2008, and then I need to go to the DMV with all of this in order to be able to register my car. And it's going to cost me about $350 because I haven't paid the sales tax on it yet.
It's a complex system that I've just recently figured out having to deal with this. When I had my Saturn all of the running around was always taken care of for me, so I'm new to it.
