View Full Version : Morning MOD Caravan St. Louis to Normal

In addition, to everyone who is leaving the night before if anyone is interested in a morning caravan feel free to post. I believe its not as fun as the afternoon one but still is an option. Last year we left around 6:00am but had to go just a little faster to make it by 8ish in Normal to grab breakfast before meeting up at the gates at 9:00am. This year I was thinking about leaving around 5:00am just in case something might come up if there is a bigger group...

Feel free to call me at 3144719359 or pm but a post of a good place and location should be fine...

I'll be going in the morning. Gateway is where every other Mitsu group from STL is meeting. I doubt anybody is willing to leave from there at 5am though.

I'm willing to leave later but what if Dan overheats heh then we have to wait until his shit cools before we continue and be late to the show. So how early is everyone else meeting?

:nono: My car is running great right now. couldn't sleep last night so i went out and checked everything out, fluids are all good after 2 weeks of fixing it all. and on the way to school this morning the hottest my car got was 203. where before it got up to 219 during regular driving. (80 on highway) i'll make sure its in pristine shape before i leave. :drive:

you guys do know the night before/hooters/hotel parking lot is usually more fun the MOD itself ;)

I'm trying to set a standard time of leaving at 6am from the Burger King across from GIR. That way, if there is any mis-haps, we can still make it on time. Also, the earlier you get there, the better selection of free OEM there is.

As far as heat on my car, it will see up to 208 sitting, but usually rests around 200-203 while driving. I assume that is normal?

And the selection of free stuff is much much better first thing in the day.

Hangover = Fail

However drunken antics the night before = Win

This year I recomend we get breakfast somewhere else though. The place we hit last year wasn't that good.

I am psyched...good times. For those of you driving up in the morning you will miss a great night hanging out. You haven't had a blast until you have spent a full 24 hours with the StL group :D

No chemo that week = fun times

K, seriously, what did we do last year for breakfast?

95gto
- September 11th, 2008, 07:09 AM
I think we went to Bob Evan's :h-scratch

Whatever it was the place was right next to the hotel and it wasn't very good.

The official time of departure is 7am for the STLSR/GDSM/MoMitsu group. I tried 6am with everybody, but all the lazy bums had a fit. It would be great if you guys wanted to leave a bit later and cruise up with the rest of us!

If I can go I will drive up in the morning and meet you guys there. It depends on my normal work schedule and my class schedule whether I can go this year.

What's wrong with breakfast at BK, then waiting until 7? Just an idea. I'd like to have another 3S in the caravan... :(

Edin3000gt
- September 15th, 2008, 06:54 AM
I would wait because it would be more fun but then what if someones wheel falls off as you are driving on the highway then you have no overhead to make it on time. This way you drive and then rest up and then go to the show...

If you want you can always come at 6... :dude:

SixFourTwoHero
- September 15th, 2008, 08:56 AM
I'd rather get there earlier, but I've got like seven good friends that I would be ditching.

Honestly, if someone breaks down, I wouldn't stop for long. I want my free Mitsu parts that I will never have use for! Also, since I'm not driving my DSM, I'm positive I'll get there problem free. :D

Just let me know if you guys decide to wait it out another hour or hour and a half.

i know last year we met up at 6am. ate bk for breakfast and left by 7am. but we ended up getting there late because one of the dsm's with us had an O2 sensor get caught in the turbo and was just having problems. and i dont believe we are taking the evo with us this year so we dont hve to worry about blowing ic piping..... i think my car would be the safest to take up there, lol. so brian you will have me to cruise with!!!!!!! and ross should be riding with me :nana:

Good to hear. I'm tired of pulling over for broken DSMs, so I doubt I'll stop. I can't remember what time I got there last year, but I'm sure it was a bit before you guys got there, since you pulled off in Springfield.

ThumperSL
- September 29th, 2008, 11:23 AM
yeah. i dont think we are stopping in springfield to meet up with that chick again this year, so that will make me happy!!!!!

I would if I could, but I can't. It's one of the downsides of management... an awesome perk though is that I get shit tons of hours and overtime if the other managers can't work.

If it makes you feel better though James, I will see what I can do about the 31st and I also already requested to use my vacation time for the NG next year and since its on a first come, first serve basis, I'm set.

OK! so me and Edin talked. we are meeting at the gas station across from Gateway at 5:45AM on Saturday. we are leaving as close to 6am as possible. we are going to stop in Springfield and get some Grub.

If any one is going to leave when we leave let us know so we will wait for you. (but not past 6am)

either send me a PM or call/text me to let me know

I'm glad you guys didn't end up waiting around for the rest of the STL Mitsu group. Some people showed up late, then we had to stop three times on the way. I guess that's what happens when you caravan with DSMs.

agreed. None of the 3S's had problems. Sannas car was burning oil quicker than normal but no big deal.

Glad I didn't bring the evo either...Drove it the other day to my rents and the whole way it was overheating. :(

Has the 120k service been done?

ThumperSL
- October 10th, 2008, 09:18 AM
not yet. getting ready to do it soon. i need tires first. and the service dept just said all i needed was a timing belt. but they dont know if it is bad or not without tearing into it. i dont plan on driving it everyday now that the other car is running.

You need more than just a timing belt for the 120k...a lot more. With that said, stay as far away from that service department as you can get.

AFA tires needed before the 120k, ask James Day (jday51) about having a new set of tires on his car before doing his 120k. Now he has a car that don't run and the new set of tires are dry rotted from sitting.

In a nutshell, get the 120k service done immediately...you will be thankful for this advice if you read all of the horror stories about people who waited.

i work at a mitsu dealership and that is what my service manager told me. i know he said there was more but he also said it would be over a grand to do. so i plan on buying everythign and doing myself and having friends help. you are more than melcome to help me !!!! lol :D

WOW! Yeah, the 120k service is not over a grand to do. I don't recall exactly off the top of my head but I want to say that it was a few hundred bucks...not even close to a grand. Doing it yourself will be even less.

Personally, I would just have Von do it. He knows our cars inside and out and can do pretty much anything with them. He is the one who did my 120k...

DiamondStealth
- October 12th, 2008, 06:51 AM
Von did mine as well. You'll need the timing belt, the t-belt tensioner, t-belt idler pulley, the water pump and it's gaskets. As well as you should bring enough coolant to fill the car back up.

That's everything right Von?

also recommend: if needed
serp belts
plugs and wires
air filter
and if you car is smoking a lot valve guide seals
low oil pressure would also recommend a new oil pump

all of these items are considered wear items and per Mitsubishi recommend service intervals recommend replaced on the 120K

DO NOT let them tell you they check your timing belt and it was fine (unless there is PROOF that it was replaced recently) as yes this is an expensive service it is a HELL of a lot cheaper then the repair bill if you jump timing due to a timing belt system failure

ThumperSL
- October 13th, 2008, 01:28 PM
they said they didn't check because they didn't want to tear into the motor. all i did was get the damn oil changed and i was being told all of this......
