Richard,
I was thinking about your Cold air box and I think you should do it. That side mount scoop should flow enough air out at the same time allowing enough cold air in to the intake. I say we do it and see what happens.

I think so also. The only problem is that Supermacs wall doesn't fit on the K&N. It will only mount up to his Stillen type filter.
Kind of stinks because I really like how my K&N looks.

What are the benefits of the cold air box Vs the cold air wall?

Tighter fit to allow cooler air into the intake.

Is there that much of a difference? I would think that since it is tighter, it would restrict the flow more.

What a cold air wall and cold air box do is keep the warm/hot air off the engine away from the intake air. The flow is about the same, just less hot air. Cold air then increases the pressure in the manifold and cylinders and that increases power.
The air is coming from around your passenger headlight.

Have you seen pictures of both of them? I would assume that the box would do a "slightly" better job of keeping the hot air away from the filter vs. the wall.

I have seen the pics of both, but it seemed to me that the box has a very small opening. I know it will keep out more warm air than the wall, but since i have tubing from the front end to the filter, would there be much of a difference then?

Yes. More cold air.

I know more cold air, but are we only talking a degree or two or more?

I don't know any temp readings from stock to Cold air wall vs cold air box. With the routing you have and a cold air wall, you should be just fine. You might want to do someresearch and post it on here. Take the temps yourself and let us know.

If I recall correctly, I saw a reading of about 18 or 20 degree difference between the engine bay and the cold air WALL.
I can't remember, but it sounds about right.

So basicly the cold air box isn't that much cooler than the wall, so it is just a matter of what the person likes better. At least thats how it seems to me.

I dont think it is that much difference unless you are really into very high performance freaky stuff and want the 2 - 5 degree difference.

Anyone get one of these yet? I am debating either the wall or box, but don't know if the box is worth 25 more.

Ok, I know this is an "older" thread, but does anyone have one? I am thinking of getting Supermacs cold air box. It sounds convincing. The only thing, that Richard mentioned prior, is will it fit with the KN filter?
