Hi, I am selling my 97 3000gt SL. I have an RX7 and just bought a truck and some jetskis so I need to get rid of this one. The car is in absolutely great condition. It is beautiful inside and out, and you really must see it in person to appreciate how good it looks. I see lots of 3000gts on the road, and none look as good as this one. I get a lot of compliments and people are always looking. It is an SL and with the extras, I guess puts out close to 250 hp. It has a good amount of power, and is not slow like the base models, which only offer single overhead cams and only 160 hp. It is also must lighter then the vr-4, and if you are looking for an automatic, then this is the only option as you can’t get the vr-4 in an automatic. It is front wheel drive, which really makes this car handle magnificently. I have had many performance car, including my Rx7, and this car handles great if not better then most, and is very easy and fun to drive. This car was my baby, and I took very good care of it, changing the oil every 3000 miles, and really babying it. It has never been smoked in. If you are looking to buy a 3000gt, then you really should consider this one, as I am very honest, and it is in great condition and truly one of the more beautiful 3000gts around.
Mechanical Condition- The car has just under 100,000 miles on it, and runs perfect. It has an automatic transmission. It was garage kept and hardly driven for its first 7 years. It is still kept covered every day. It has a clear title. It has been my daily driver for the last 2 years as I put about 50k miles on it in that time. All the miles have been highway miles as I work about an hour from my home. The car starts right up every time, and runs perfect. I have heard stories of these cars not being very reliable, but this car has been the most reliable car I have ever owned. I have never had any real mechanical problems with the car, besides the starter going out around a year ago and I had it replaced. That is the only mechanical problem I ever had. The car has been perfect to me, absolutely mechanically sound. It drives very good. The transmission works great. It works as if it were still new.
Exteriorl Condition- The car is absolutely beautiful. Pictures do not do this car justice. The paint looks great. It was scratched on the back bumper last year, so I had the whole rear and side painted. I had the front of the car painted last week, so the paint looks great. It really does look like a brand new car. There is no physical damage to the car anywhere, it is in perfect condition. It really does look new, and you will not find a better looking 3000gt. I see them in many colors, and none compare to Black. The black with the Chrome rims just looks better then anything else I see. There was a door ding just behind the drivers door that was fixed but you can still see where is was but it is too small to show up in the pictures. It is not very noticeable at all, but I wanted to be as honest as possible. That is the only thing on the outside of the car that doesn’t look perfect.
Interior Condition- The interior is also in very good condition. The seats are leather and still look great. They have NO tears and look very clean. The door panels are still very strong and all the plastic still feels like new. The carpet in front of the drivers seat is in great shape. There are a couple of stained spots on the passenger side carpet, and the mat on the passenger side it a little worn on the right edge. There is a very small cut that I just noticed on the leather on the pack of the passenger side door panel. It is in a very unnoticeably area and you really won’t see it unless you are really looking. It is about one inch. The sun roof is in great condition and opens and closes perfectly just as if it were new. All the buttons inside the car works great. The ac blows, but recently hasn’t been blowing very cold, probably just needs to have some more coolant added, but being a guy in Texas, I always just ride around with the windows down and the sunroof open. The interior looks great for its age, and really is in great condition. It is very clean and has been very well taken care of.
Extras- The car has a K&N ram air intake worth over $200. The K&N filter works much better then the stock filter giving the car better respiration and in turn better gas mileage. The filter can also be cleaned, so you never have to buy another filter again. I will include a full kit to clean it. The car has an aftermarket performance downpipe custom made, a straight pipe instead of catalytic converter and a full Borla Exhaust from the cat back. All of this cost well over $2000 installed and is only a couple of months old. It is all in perfect condition as if it were new. The mid pipe replacing the cat makes the check engine light stay on, and you may have to put a cat on for inspection depending on your state, but the full exhaust with intake really adds a lot of power to the car and gives it a lot better gas mileage. This exhaust is not loud at all, but actually much quieter then the stock exhaust. It has a free air flowing feel, and sounds more like a luxury car. By changing the muffler, a very loud powerful sound can be achieved, however, this gives you all the nice power and performance and looks without any loud noise. The rims are 17” chrome rims. They look great and really shine. They are in very good condition and cost close to $2000 new. They really make this 3000gt look better then any other I see. I get a lot of compliments on the rims themselves. I have high performance Z rated tires, 245/45/17’s. They have good treat left on them, but even better, all four tires come with the discount tire lifetime warranty. So if anything happens to the tire and it can’t be repaired, they replace it for free. It really is a great warranty and is fully transferable. I had a blow out and a nail in the side wall on my other car, and they gave me two tires free. This warranty on all four tires can and will potentially save you around $750 when you have to replace the tires down the road. Another great addition to the great vehicle.
Sound System- I am very into car audio performance and in this car, I spared no expense. The sound system is awesome and sounds great. The cd player is a Rockford Fosgate mp3 Player which allows you to put around 200 songs on a cd-r. It looks great and has a lot of options including to auxiliary inputs, which allow you to run sound through your entire system from anything that has a headphone jack or audio output. The interior speakers are all competition pioneer speakers which sound awesome. The 3000gt has a very complex audio system that uses a factory amplifier. I removed the factory amplifier and am using a 1000 watt amplifier to fuel the speakers. The back pioneer 6x9’s are 4-way speakers with a super tweeter built in that truly sound awesome. The doors holes and back speaker holes were modified on the interior to enable as large an interior speaker to fit as possible. The trunk has a custom box and amp rack professionally built into it that cost over $2500. These box fits 2 10’s and it ported to just the right frequency for its size. It is the largest amount of cubic air space that you can fit into this car. I am selling it with two MTX 10’s. At one point I had two Fosgate Power Hx2’s in there and it hit so hard that I was worried the back glass would break. So right now the system is built for sound quality, but you can fit any 10” subs that exist in this box. The system is currently being run by one amplifier, but the amp rack allows another amp to be added if you want to expand the system. I put well over $4000 into this sound system and it is built perfect. The box fills the space of the spare tire, however, I still have the spare included. I ran 0 gauge power and ground wire, and there is wire already installed to add a second amplifier if desired. This wire is Rockford fosgate, and will not lose any power, giving you the best sound quality possible. The custom box and amp rack give you a great start to any huge system you may want to built, or a beautiful look to an already existing outstanding sound system. I still have the original cd/tape player, original amp, and original speakers, all of which will be included.
The bad- I just want to restate the problems that I already stated above just in case anything was missed, so I can be as honest as possible. There is a small area behind the driver’s door that had a door ding repaired, but can still be seen. The passenger side carpet has two stains and the floor mat is worn on the right edge. The ac blows perfect, but recently has not been blowing very cold, probably just needs some coolant added. There is a very small cut in the back edge of the leather panel on the passenger door, which isn’t very noticeable.
If you are planning on buying a 3000gt, you really should seriously consider this one. I encourage you to come see it in person, as my description and picture just do not do this car justice. I am a very honest person, so please be assured that I have done my best to describe everything, down to that smallest details, exactly as it is. If you have any questions about anything, please fell free to ask and I will be more then happy to answer any questions. You are more then welcome to come by, see the car, and if you are serious about buying, you are more then welcome to take the car for a test drive. I will help arrange with shipping if needed. I do accept paypal, but for such a large amount, I would require the 3% fee in addition. Payment in person or wire transfer is also accepted. I am asking $8400 which is the private party value suggested by Kelly Blue Book (www.kbb.com) for this car, which doesn’t really take into account all the extras that are included. So I really do believe it is a fair and reasonable price, but it is also OBO so feel free to make offers. If you are considering buying a car, I really do encourage you to come buy and take a look, you won’t be sorry. My email is truly_ballin@yahoo.com and my phone number is 254-449-1233. Please write me an e-mail or call if you have any questions at all. Thanks so much for looking at my listing. God Bless and Have a Wonderful Day!
