I recently bought a 1991 3000gt SL with a blown engine. im looking to replace the engine but have come across obsticles. One i cant find a decent lower mileage engine (not suprising for 11 years old) and in good condition. I was wondering if what years would be able to replace my engine in my car. From my findings the engines havent changed from 91-96 for the base/sl models. Does this mean i can interchange those engines with little or no major modifications? Any light on the subject would be greatly appreciated. Thanks again.

I dont know if you can interchange them but have you looked at replacing it with a brand new one from Mitsu? I got my TT short block from them for about $3000.
Just an option.

You can also find somebody who sells J-Spec long blocks for around the $3500 mark.

The 93's and up have 4 bolt blocks. It's something to consider if you ever plan on a massive engine buildup making more than 400 horsepower.

if you can only find engines with high miles, then rebuild them with 99 lifters, all new enternals, port&polish etc.
