The DOHC Stealth/3000GT supposedly has 222 crankshaft horsepower but only 167 fwhp. This is a 25% driveltrain loss which is almost unheard of in a FWD manual transmission car. Why is it so high? FWD DSM's with 195 crankshaft horsepower often dyno with more than this at the wheels. What's wrong with the tranny in the Steath/3000GT that causes such a loss? Or is it maybe that the engine doesn't make nearly as much horsepower as it's advertised to? Don't shoot me here but I'm definitely leaning towards the latter explanation. Also, has anyone dyno tested a NA car with supposedly 280 crankshaft horsepower? I talked to someone that had all the goods to make that much power and came up with 188 at the wheels. Something is starting to smell a little bit here.

I heard that if you upgrade your flywheel, clutch and LSD will improve the efficiency. Other then that i don't know about the stock config.

I know that things like will improve the effciency. Removing parasitic losses always helps. It's just that I've never heard of a 25% loss from a stock FWD car. Having to spend a couple of thousand dollars just to get to a 15% drivetrain loss is a crime. I'm there, BTW. That's all I've done to my 93 ES at the moment. I just got rid of a little parasitic loss and it made a noticeable impovement. Imagine if it had been at 15% to start with.

i wish it were 15% that would be 187hp instead of 165.
