I am getting a cali spec front pipe in the near future. what type of sound/power gains should i see? Right now i have a testpipe and custom exhaust with N1 mufflers. I heard that our stock front pipe is the second most restrictive part next to the cat in our exhaust system. I took care of the first one so its on to the second one:D

I have heard around 12 horsepower on an otherwise stock car. This sounds a bit on the high side to me but the stock front pipe is a joke. I'm doing this next to my 93 ES and then it's on to cams and cam gears.

i take it thats 12 at the crank, right? Any idea at the wheels, 3,4?

Well using the universally accepted drivetrain loss formula, with 12 more ponies at the crank, only 3 of them should get lost in the drivetrain allowing 9 of them to actually propel the car. 12 just sounds like a bit much to me.

12 sounds like a ot to me also but if it gives me 9 at the wheels, i should feel it.

I'm not so sure you'll even "feel" 9 more at the wheels. Seat of the pants evaluations are so subjective. You want to think the car is faster so it feels faster. You should see close to a tenth of a second and a mph at the track with that horsepower gain though. Once again, that's assuming that you get that much gain from it. Actually getting that much of a gain is what I'm doubting though. I have real world dragstrip numbers to evaluate what I've done to my car so far. I improved from a 9.78 @ 71.5 completely stock except or a K&N FIPK to a 9.55 @ 75.3 in the 1/8th mile by adding the following items:
1. Fidanza aluminum flywheel
2. ACT clutch/pressure plate
3. UR underdrive pulley
4. 3" inlet Magnaflow Race Muffler with 2 1/2" piping from the O2 sensor housing back.
5. Custom intake tubing made from 3" thinwall PVC pipe
From what I've read that other people have dyno tested, these mods should have given me about 20 whp. I got my two tenths but picked up almost 4 mph in the 1/8th. Some of my mph gain is from the clutch not slipping.

aside from the preformance, will there be any sound difference? Right now i have only N1's no resonaters, cat.
