Head Units - Eclipse or NEW Kenwood Excelon

Speakers - Eclipse or Diamond Audio. if you can get them though, Bravox. I am good friends with the Midwest distributor for Bravox so if you can't find them, let me know and I can get you hooked up. Dynaudio if you want to go EXTREMELY high end.

Subs - Bravox or Diamond Audio or Alpine Type R (NOT Type S). Image Dynamics if are into super expensive subs that sound great. My preference would be Bravox EDX though.

Amps - Eclipse, Diamond Audio, older Rockford Fosgate, Memphis Audio, Zapco

The new Kenwood head units are using very good quality preamplification circuitry and are easily comparable to a new Eclipse unit unless you look at the 8V Eclipse units.

Building a system all depends on what kind of budget you are looking at. If you aren't so much worried about money, the system I would build (and currently have in my car) is:

Eclipse 8V head unit ($500.00 for no DVD/$2000.00 for in dash DVD), Eclipse Premium amp for components ($800.00), Eclipse Class D sub amp ($1,100.00), Bravox Kevlar components ($600.00 per set), Bravox EDX 12" sub ($600.00) and good quality wiring and connections ($250.00). This is roughly $6k and it is a system that can seriously pound but sounds crystal clear at any volume. These prices are all estimates...most of this could probably be found cheaper.

What about if I'm are on a budget, and would like to use as much existing equipment as possible, I have sitting here a Rockford Fosgate 12 inch Power HX2 DVC sub, 2 8 inch Orion cobalts (in JL Audio stealth box), a couple of different head units (mostly Pioneers and Kenwoods), and the complete stock system (changer, head), wiring and stock amp in car right now.

Do I have to rewire entire car to get it to sound right? Right now fronts are very weak compared to rears (opposite of stock), no matter the fade. I think stock amp is no longer wired in B/C the harness connector...

I'm thinking of putting the 8's in the rear 6x9 position, since my cage won't be going to that spot like some others, whenever it comes to that.

sounds like you already have everything you already need. some things may need to be replaced though...that may be why you are having issues. next StL get together that we are both at...mention it and I can take a look at it for you to see what's up...
