How hard is this too do? I can pick up a 9b or a 13g pretty easy. But what is the major thing I need to do? I have a friend who can do all the fabrication and stuff really easy. But the intercooler might be a problem I think? I know I would upgrade to 360 injects, TT fuel pump, SAFC. What else would I need, would I need to lower compression to say 8:1? Any help would be appriecated.

Regards,
Sean

Im looking at doing the same thing. With a manual it would be easier but i have an atx. www.RPW.com has an equal length header set that includes a down pipe.
I think we would have to place the turbo down towards where the rear flex pipe is on the stock DP. They have kits for the v6 eclipse. We could look at them for some guidance. Its the same engine with a diferent set of heads. sohc 24v. We might be able to use that kit with some slight modification to piping. Nothing any muffler shop couldnt handle. I do thin it would be rather simple and well worth it. We could easily net 75-100 whp with the stock block. Any higher than 5-6 psi and we would have to rebuild the block with better rods and pistons.
The crank would be fine unless we wanted push really high boost. Plus then there would be a lot more options for mor power. I think it is very feasible and could be done rather cheap. Cheaper than an upgrade on a TT. Here is a site with some valuable info. http://www.allpar.com/mopar/turbo3.html
And here is the site with the v6 eclipse turbo

go to 3gturbo under NEW

The compression would not need to be turned down but you will not be able to run high boost. You will not need it. The compression will take care of that. Your friend will have alot to do. There are alot of items you will need to go the TT route. The single turbo route may be easier. Good luck.

The biggest hampering that we have as being SOHC guys, is the fact that we can't bolt TT manifolds onto our cars. That is where the major expense is for us. Just about anything else will bolt right on with some slight modification.

the biggest hampering you all have is the fact you own an SOHC. get a turbo for christs sake.

Just because you own a VR4 you think your king of the road. Next time your down my way, I'll hurt you with my big bad V8 that will crush your little yet laughably cute v6, Turbo, AWD, you'll need more than that.

That said,

I have a local shop that said that they would build me a custom set of headers for my new motor,(once it arrives) so I can place the 9bs on my car. After that, its simply running the oil/cooling lines and mounting and hooking up the intercoolers....oh yeah and vaccum lines and...

I have more V8 kills than I care to even talk about. I would not be bragging about a V8 considering the Rustang's big V8 used to pump out a glorious 220+ HP.

He has every right to express his opinion. While all your NA boys including the SOHC boys complain of the lack of power, it's a VIABLE, CHEAPER, EASIER option to buy the TT model. The 1st gen Stealth RT/TT can be bought for under 8K if you look hard. +

Also, if you want your V8 to play with a little V6, you might wanna play with me. I am not gonna be easy to beat :D

Who asked you anyway? No wonder this forum sucks, and I'm not coming back to this one. Should be renamed the racist 3s forum. TTs only.

Lets race. Next time your my way. I'll hook a chain to my big V8 and your V6 and well see whos rear end comes off first. Thus looser. Race ya any time

No one asked me. It's a free country and a public forum. I am ALLOWED to speak :D

If you don't like the forum, then don't bother being apart of it. Another member stressed their opinion which they are allowed to do. I am sorry if you disagree but that's life, you should be used to it by now.

It's hardly racist. Just like anything in life, people are passionate about what they believe in. You want respect for a heavy FWD NA car when the big dog TT models get no respect. Get in line is the only thing I can say.

And we can race as well but being in NY, I see this as a problem. Also, I never said I would win or anything along the sort. I am just saying that a 3/S w/ BPU/FUEL/15Gs/and a tank of toulene (which I keep in the house) is not gonna be easy to beat :D

On a side note, becareful of who you call a 'looser', after looking at your profile, your birthdate is "November 18, 1984" which makes ya barely legal to get ass raped. Be nice! :)

Adam made a kit for the SOHC that will support from 400hp to 1000hp depending on turbo. I'm not sure if he post on here though.

LOL, I can just see the Viper GTS/R guys belittling the RT/10 crowd; "You worthless sh!theads, who said you had a racing car??" or the Callaway owners making a point to ZO6 guys, "Pffffft, get a real car bozo!" or my all time favorite... (play the Stalag 17 theme song) Porsche Turbo owners looking at everyone else from their perch high up in the clouds, "YOU ARE INFERIOR!"

I guess in many ways, we have to find something to pit ourselves against eachother.

IPO proved that the DOHCs can be just as wicked as a VR4, at least in a straight line. The point the TT guys were trying to make is this: It's not going to be easy, and it's not going to be cheap. They're suggesting that for the money and time involved, you may be better off buying a TT. I don't understand how that statement and a little sarcasm can be so offensive. The Z guys, MR2 guys, probably even the Supra and I bet even the Miata guys pick and tease with their NA counterparts.

I guess NAs are kind of like little brothers...family gives them a hard time, but nobody else is 'allowed' to. Kick back, crack a beer, we're all the same platform.

well to answer the orig question. A single turbo wouldnt be that hard at all. Deff alot of room in there for us. btu as for your turbo selection...a 9b or 16g is fine in sets of two..but single..you might want a considerably larger if you even want to see gains. the weight added by the pipes will probally negate any gains from the turbo.

Why waste a turbo kit on a SINGLE 9b? They can't flow worth shit.

Wow, you really live up to your screen name don't you? haha

As A first time reader new to this forum, yeah...I guess I did...so what. I'm backing up a statement that still rings true while trying to save some people some money. I've owned all three trim levels of the 3/S...so I sort of know.

You are posting a reply to someone who just posted a 6 year old quote. Who is the bigger loser?

Hmmm....too early.
