My car is at about 122,000 miles, and I don't think it's had the 120 yet. What all is done/needed and how much would it cost to have a dealer/shop do this? I'd like to be able to do it myself if it isn't too much of a hassle.

Really good question. I have never really thought about the requirements for a SOHC 60K tune up.

Click Here (http://www.kolosy.com/60k/Page.html) for a detailed site on what a 60k consists of. I know that this is for a DOHC, so you would probably need to check with the dealer just to see what parts are required in your application.

This will show you basically what you are up against. I know that if you get somebody to do it for you, like Mitsu, it will probably run you anywhere between $1000 and $1500. Mind you that is for a DOHC so it may be a little less. I am not sure though.

You can try and go to Groundzero Performance (http://www.groundzeroperformance.com) and check out their site. Look up 60K in the catalog. They have 60k parts packages between $300 and $600 total. Obviously, that doesn't include labor, but you could easily save quite a few bucks doing it yourself.

You can also call Hans Ertl at (609)820-3163 to see if he has a SOHC package available.

Hope this helps.

one more thing. since you are going to knock this out, it would probably be a good idea to replace your oil pump too.

Just went through this w/ wifey's base model ('93) - it's time for a new cam belt, tensioner & pulley, water pump, valve stem seals(assuming good compression, you won't have to do a valve job yet) - probably cam & crank seals - a good set of platinum plugs, along w/ new wires - probably new accessory drive belts - might be a good time for new radiator hoses - inspect & replace any brittle vacuume lines - you can do all the external stuff, but unless you've got another ride, hire out the internals - time is worth money, also! - I had it all done (internals, seals, etc) for less than $1200, in a day at a shop I trust -- hope this helps!
