Blew my first set of plugs today

Well, It took exactly one week of running an extra 4lbs of boost for me to blow a plug. I took it to Razors Edge Motorsports and my cylinder 2 plug was completely fried. There wasn't even a tip left. I went with the NKG TR6's. I guess this is what all the Lightning guys are running. It's a colder plug that fires better at higher boost. I can definitely feel it at higher RPM's.

Why would running additional boost fry your plugs? How much total boost are you at now?

I can't explain why running more boost fries your plugs. It has to do with the increased revolutions of the engine. I am currently running 14psi of boost. I will have an exact figure this Friday when I install my Boost gauge and air/fuel regulator.

Holy shit. 14psi on a supercharger? Are you serious? I thought you could really only kick out like 6-8 lbs. 14 is insane.

I am adding a 2lb upper pulley that will give me another 3-4lbs of boost. This thing is going to be a complete monster by the time I am done with it...

Just curious, but will pumping up to 18 lbs of boost in there have any adverse effects on your piston/rods? That just seems like an enormous amount coming out of an SC.

I would imagine. If so, I will put aftermarket rods in when I blow the engine. It is under warrenty;)

Have you fried anymore of your plugs lately since you switched them out?

FRom what I can tell, no. The plugs I put in are very good and all the L guys are using them. I will be doing the upper pulley and intake next week. I will post and tell you how the truck feels after.
