I just ordered a set of Yokohama AVS ES100 225/55ZR-16 95W BSW tires for my car. Has anyone heard anything about these? I got the set for 384.00 from Discount Tire Direct. They seem good, I just wanted some other opinions.

The first two links are from Yokohama. The third link is from tirerack.

Going off the reviews, they sound like great tires. There are some tested on an Audi TT and a 300ZX.

Thanks Rich. The tire rack link doesn't work because the session has timed out. It did this to me when I was shopping for tires a few times. Was that where the tests on a 300ZX were at?

This Acura orginally had the terrible Michelin XGT V4''''''''s, which felt like they were on ice in the rain. The car was in N.J., and a large pothole put a knot the size of my fist in the sidewall of one of the Michelins. I replaced them with BFG Touring T/A''''s, which were much better in the rain and even acceptable in the snow. Now that the car is back in Miami and potholes and snow aren''''t a concern, I went with these new Yoko''''s on Tirerack''''s recommendation and I am very happy. The wet and dry traction is almost as good as the max performance Bridgestone Potenza S-03 Pole Positions I have on my Mustang GT, but these Yoko''''s cost far less and have longer treadwear. I highly recommend them, especially for this class of car.

Excellent steering responsiveness. Excellent traction. Tires are more noisy than previous set. They track grooves in pavement pretty badly. Have not had them long enough to know about treadwear. Chris D

These Tires are great for the money, it isn''''''''t the best dry traction tires you can get for the money, but it does have the best wet-dry performance all around. It is alot better when compared too mine old Kumho 712''''s. Since the 712 and ES100 are in the same performance catagory. Wet traction is almost perfect, it almost makes the 712''''s a joke when compared. the tire compound is a bit softer then the 712''''s, so grip on dry pavement is abit above the 712''''s. Overall I''''m pretty Happy. I have even order another set for my brother car.

I just put them on my Saturn to replace my Nitto tires. I noticed immediately how much more control of the vehicle I have with these tires. They grip like glue. Very quiet also. I had zero problems in the heavy Florida thundershowers we get each afternoon in regards to hydroplaning(totally non-existent). My Nittos had worn out and were not safe in wet weather anymore. These are the best tires I have ever owned. The price is near impossible to beat. They have a nice stiff sidewall for those who drive aggressively or autox. I am planning on getting a set for my MX-6 also as soon as my Bridgestones wear out on that car.

The Yokohama AVS ES-100 is the best set of tires I have ever owned bar none! After riding in the SLK, my wife insisted on a set for her Mazda Miata. The ride in her car improved 10 fold. For the first time, I found riding in her Miata enjoyable for the first time. The ride was noticeably improved and the cockpit considerably quieter. Grip and feel at the wheel was better than Mercedes choice of Dunlop and Mazda’s choice of Michelin. This tire also just looks good on your car. I don’t know if I want to drive the 16,000 miles left on Goodyear tires on the C-230.

So far,I am impressed. I have run AVS DB and Kumho ecsta 712. These are the best so far. The price is right and the handling is superb.Great at high speeds. Quiet, comfortable and inspire confidence in the turns. I would recomend these to anyone looking for a performance street tire.

I replaced my totally bald Kumho 712''s with these. I had been happy with the kumho's, especially at the price, but am suprised how much more performance these offer immediately. Much crisper turn-in, much more predictable break away, and this on a brand new tire. I can't wait to get them scrubbed in.

Awesome tire. Debated between these S03''s, Kuhmo 712s, and Toyo Proxies, for the money and my needs this was the better choice. Great grip, plenty of warning when reaching the limit. Very quiet & stable. No complaints. Taken them to 2 AutoX's and even with a lot of tread they did great. S03's and Proxies would probably have a slight edge on dry grip, but if you don't need the absolute best dry performance, and don't want to pay through the nose, this is it. Treadwear should be better too, I'm looking at getting 20-25k+ miles even with a few AutoX's (for comparison, I thrashed a set of Conti's CH95's in under 10k). Buy this tire, 4 of them actually. www.e30forum.net

Excellent tires. Better than the RE71s I was running. Alot quieter too. Wet and dry traction is amazing, almost as good as my Kumho V700 ECSTA that I use for track days and autocross.

Great tire-way underpriced! Excellent dry traction, not noisy at all and look great too. I autocrossed them too-very quiet when pushed to the limit and provide fast steering response.

A great upgrade from the OE Conti. touring tires. Maybe 5% noisier on city pavement, unnoticable on the highway. I wish they made a direct replacement size in 195/65 R15 instead of going smaller at 205/60. Wish they were a bit quieter, but the added traction is worth the trade off. Best upgrade without switching wheels. I will definitely buy them with 17" wheels.

Yokohama has done it again, just look at all the standard features on this tires, after getting it, i''m amazed with how my car handles now, even though tirerack just lowered the price by $7/each and the free remote car(i wish i bought the tires a week later) it's well worth it, AVS is top of the line for Yokohama, you can't go wrong.

Great tires with stiff sidewalls, a good bit more stable than AVS intermediates and much better wet traction. Great cornering stability, road holding grip on off camber corners. Impressive tires, definately superior in quality to the competition.

Thanks again Richy! Now I just can't wait to test them myself. The parts for my car still haven't arrived and they said about 2 more weeks! BASTARDS! But thanks for the research.
