I'm about to do a tune up on my car, but before I do I had some questions...
First off, which plugs would people recommend for a vr-4? I've been looking at Denso Iridiums, and NGK Platnums, which one would be better for a BPU car, or are there any better choices.
Also, I don't know what size wires to get. I'm stuck between 8mm or 8.5mm and there's some guys at a performance shop 'trying' to tlak me into 10mm, but I think that's totally overkill, :slap: especially considering I don't plan on getting an ignition amplifier until after I upgrade my fuel delivery, which will be some time. Any Ideas or comments are more than welcome.
I'm running really low boost right now on upgraded turbos,(6 PSI on TDO4-13C's) so spark blowout isn't really an issue for me right now.

Check out NGK coppers too.

NGK copper or platnium plugs and new wires.
The platniums last a bit longer but the coppers are cheaper and changing them keeps you in touch with your car.
While you are at it do a compression test and record the numbers.
I just got a set of NGK BCP6ES plugs and red 8mm Accel wires as a gift so I'm changing mine this weekend. The gift giver bought them at 3SXperformance.com

I have a compression tester, but I was wondering what PSI should be equivilent with 8-1 compression. Also, what would you recommend me gap the plugs to? This highest I would plan to turn the boost up with this set up, when I get my boost control, would only be 10 - 11 PSI. nothing crazy yet...

Erik Gross has a "how to" on the Team3S site.
http://www.team3s.com/~egross/3S/Maint/All/CompressC/
Stock compression for a turbo engine (8:1) is 156psi with a lower limit of 115psi. Further, in either engine, there should be no more than 14psi between the HIGHEST and LOWEST cylinder compression readings. Note that compression readings should be taken with a WARM engine, which means you'll have to do the above steps with rather hot parts - mechanics' gloves help

As for gap I can not tell you a correct measure. What I would do is gap them stock such that the maximum spark is produced.
If you experience misfire due to the mixture requiring more energy to fire (increased resistance of the mixture). Close the gap by small increments such as 2 thousandths and check for misfire. When you get no more misfire keep that gap.
I have used stock gap at 10-15 psi without misfire your results may be different.

Go with the coppers.
Get MSD or Accel wires the MSDs are a cost little more.

You can go with the IPO made MSD 8mm wires too. I have a set, very good quality product.

A'ight, I just got my plugs and wires. I got some NGK coppers (BCP6ES) and ended up with some Magnecore wires. I went to a shop close to my place to see if they could order some wires for me, and they ended up having the Magnecores in stock, so I figured what the heck. They are the KV85 Competition (8.5mm). I have heard some good things about them, and I ended up spending less on them than I would have ended up spending had I got these ones off the net. They will be going on this weekend. Thanx for all the comments. :nana:

Don't drop the nuts on the sides of the upper intake into the lower intake area. Don't drop the rear IC pipe bolt into the engine compartment abiss.
Don't ask why. :dunno:
If you do lose these bolts and nuts. The rear turbo IC bolt is a M8x16. The nuts are M8x1.25
It took me till the next day to put it together because I needed to go to the hardware store.
The intake stays are M8x16 also.

Plugs and wires are in. :monkey: Gapped my plugs to .035 The old plugs that I took out were at .043! also two of the old wires under the plenum were severed about half way through. Don't know how this happened, but you can imagine how much better it idles and rides now with new parts. Thanx for all the help... :drunk:
