hey, as in the title my stealth has been getting terrible gas mileage. its like 12 mpg. im not driving like an idiot in boost all the time im just getting really bad mpg. i have a mass air sensor that has the sides gutted from the previous owner which i will be switching back to stock soon. also i have a hotwired fuel pump. is their anything specific i could look for to fix this problem? its def hurting my wallet having to fill up more than once a week.

Is your air filter clean? Are your injectors clean? How is your driving style?

i dont really get on it all the time but here and there i will. other than injectors and filter is there anything else that could be doing it?

That is it. You might have a stuck injector too and/or bad O2 sensors.

I thought I had it bad because I'm only getting 22 MPG lately.

22 for a 92 is amazing

17MPG CITY;24-27MPH HIGHWAY

Do a tuneup but it's probably your 02 sensor or your MAS. A gutted MAS has some issues. Check a 23094240494 paged thread on 3SI (when it's up)

i had about 10mpg when i firt bought my car.

either bad o2, or boost leaks, or tuneup.
The gutted mas will make you run lean rather than rich, so i suggest that you fix it but i don't think it will fix your problem.

Things to do to gain milage:

fix exhaust and boost leaks
make sure o2 sensors are working (cycling at idle)
replace air filter
replace plugs
if wires are 10+ years old go ahead and replace those too
run injector cleaner or HEET in your next tank
Check for vacuum leaks or perform vacuum reduction.
replace drivetrain fluids. If you're losing alot more power through the tranny than you should (because of bad or low fluid) then you will use more rpm/throttle to give you the same acceleration/velocity ... so replacing tranny and differencial fluids does help milage a bit too

I did that on my car and i've seen 18/22 out of it ...used to get 8-10 when i bought it.

I used to get 38 MPG before I blew out parts of the exhaust and the car got old.

My O2's don't cycle as fast as they used to, it is about time for new ones.
It's an easy job, but I have to justify it with the wife.
