Hi, I'm just browsing through Summit racing looking at all the parts they have for the 3000GT, since they are the cheapest online store I know of, and beat out almost every other 3/S specialist...

OK on to the good stuff...

I was basically looking at every part, since there isn't many...and I noticed that they have a Venom programmable chip...WTF? I thought they didn't make them for our cars...? I only heard that Ralliart made a few chips and they were over in Japan.

Venom is claiming 25% HP increase from 1,000-5000RPM's, reduced lag when you romp the throttle, and supposedly this chip only kicks in when the engine is under increased load. You can also turn the chip off completely.

I've always been told that things like this, basically trick your engine into thinking they are receiving more air, and more fuel than it actually is. My friend had his 1.8T 20th anniversary chipped at Waterfest this year, and I drive his car often...and in stock mode, the car does not light the tires up through first, in performance mode, it lights them up through first, and I can chirp them into second...haven't had enough room to get it into third. His car has had no problems since he has chipped...granted...his car has 13,000 miles on it and mine has 99,500. This is my biggest concern, can my 11 year old engine handle this chip? What do you 3/S gurus think that know shitloads more than me? Should I stay away? Or should I go for it?

Increasing TPS is a bad way of making a person believe they have more power. What happens when your foot is to the floor? The answer.... your at the same power level as before :D

Exactly.

The "chip" is garbage. Spend the 300 on a downpipe.:D

You're talking VR-4 mods, unfortunately, I don't have one yet. Next year when I am able to take out a loan it will be a different story.

I'm assuming hotwiring FP means hotwiring the fuel pump? (If that's possible?)

would DSM injectors be a good bang for buck mod on my N/A?

If you have a need for upgraded fuel because your stock fuel is not enough to support the power you have. :)

No they are low resistance injectors like the TT's have. The N/A cars use high resistance injectors which have a different dwell and require more tuning to get them working in the car. It can be done but it is harder than installing them in a TT.

For one thing you must install one resister per injector inline to prevent injector driver failure.

Don't forget they are 450cc (390cc ATX) and the VR-4's come 360cc stock.

I'll pass on the injector swap.;)
