ok this is an old problem but i want to give it another try. with the mbc i can raise boost to whatever but when i reconect all the stock hoses to the stock solenoids and stuff i only get 6psi. my nephew has a 3000gt so i swapped the solenoids on the firewall one at a time and tested the car after each swap then i used all his solenoids at once and still 6psi. i double triple quadruple checked all the vacuum hoses and they are all going to the right places. i have new clamps on the ic hoses. what can be wrong? im using dress up silicone hoses i bought from 3sx. the fuses are fine under the steering wheel. im thinking of checking to see if there is any voltage getting to the solenoids. should there be power going to them at all times when the car is on? is there anything i am missing?

Why are you using the stock solenoid? Isn't it bypassed by the MBC? Isn't the MBC the solenoid?

because ill probably be selling the car soon. i think aftermarket parts scare people away. especially boost controllers where you can seriously jack up an engine and it gives buyers the idea that youve been racing. and secondly because i like to learn and this problem has been nagging at me for awhile now. and yes i tend to be compulsive. :p

I had a little problem with the mbc, and only had like 6-7 psi for the longest time until somebody pointed out the little bleeder valve at the bottom that was plugged up. Checkit.

6PSI = wastegate pressure

krank vent and oil catch cans are apparently working. no more smoke out of the exhaust or very little. oil catch can that is connected between pcv and intake is the only can collecting oil.

ok the hose from the pcv which i added a oil catch can is collecting quite a bit of oil. i reamed out the pvc when i added the catch can and krank vent. what can this tell me and what can i do about it. the smoking has stopped completely

Do a compression test.
With the results find out how close you are to your next ring and hone job or valve job. If it is the valve job you could do a port/polish at the same time. Port match the lower intake to the heads. Throw in some larger valves but watch piston clearances.
BTW: If you disconnect the wastegates from the boost controller you can adjust the boost with the accelerator. It will keep going till the turbos max out or the motor blows.
Be careful since their are no safety devices to stop over boost.
To test the stock boost soleniod use a mityvac handheld vacuum pump and 12v power.

Do the compression test and find your problem before you fix something you don't need to. It can't be too bad or the car wouldn't run without blowing by oil all the time.
I put a remanned motor in Ranger for $600 because it was blowing a quart every 25 miles. The rings were shot and I didn't have time to rebuild it myself. It took 14 hours to install the motor including removal of the old one.
J-specs are fairly cheap these days.
A $25 compression tester can tell you where you're at on the motor. Maybe only one cylinder has a problem.
Doesn't Mitsubishi have a tool for replacing valve seats with the heads still on?
BTW: $10-14 an hour is average for a starting tech in this area. Master or lead techs make better money. The shop has overhead so the techs don't get it all.
