Ive been looking for a 3rd vehicle for a project car. I managed to find a 91 3000gt base (i think) with 100k for $2950. The interior is torn to shit but thats not really a concern at this point. I'm not sure about the car's title but it really dont care about that either. I'm kinda new to this type of car so is there anything I should look out for? I dont want to have to put thousands of dollars in this car just to keep it running. I'm a little skeptical of the price (its kinda cheap right?) but I'm thinking its because of the interior and it needs a new wheel bearing. Suggestions??

These cars are expensive to fix/maintain/own. It is a great price but you will be spending $1000 in 20,000 more miles for a tune up. Interior is expensive. Does it drive? Smoke? Noise other than the wheel bearing?

I haven't even actually started the car yet. The stupid dealership closes at 4:30 and thats when I get off work so its more of a scheduling thing right now. I'm going to have to wait til January to do anything so I'm not really in a rush. Should I jump on this deal or do you think I'll be able to find another one?
The interior is not a big deal for me. I know a guy that does interiors so I can probably get a good price. Besides, isnt that why they invented cow-print seat covers?

Is there anything specific I should look for when I get to drive the car? I read the post about the 60k maintainence but is there anything else I should be looking for besides the timing belt and oil pump stuff? The place that's selling the car sez that the car runs fine (they actually drove it to NC the other weekend) so at leaast I know it runs.

There is the 120,000 mile maintenence.
It should start easily, Look for oil, listen for bumps and noise while driving and see if it has any steering problems while driving.

I'm going to try to get the car for a weekend so I can tool around town in it. Do you know anyone in my area (Altoona PA) that knows anything about these cars? Maybe when I get the car for the weekend I can take some pics of it and send them to you to see what you think. I really don't wana get ripped off on this cuz this is a once-in-a-lifetime chance for me, I still can't believe my wife is letting me get another car.

Go on www.3si.org and run a search for someone in your area. There are alot of owners in the PA region. Good luck.

I'm not a memeber and I don't wana join til I actually have a car (that and I don't wana pay the $10). I guess I'll take it to my mechanic guy to see what he thinks. I never understood why people ask their mechanics if they should buy cars cuz he'd prob make more money off u if he told u to buy a piece of junk. Just a thought.

You don't have to pay $10.00 to join the forums, that's just if you want to be an official memebr. Forums are free at 3si.org just like they are here.
