2nd Gear Speed Limiter???

I can't go past 60 in second, even though I am nowhere near the rev limiter. Is there a 2nd gear speed limiter???

The highest i can go in second is 60 to, what is the limiter set at? mine redlines at 60mph

I am at around 5000-5,500 Rpm at 60mph. Definetly below redline. I just dont understand it. I am just guessing it is some type of speedlimiter or something.
I can keep going up to 6K in 3rd gear no problem.

WEll i guess u are getting to second alot fsater than me and before it redlines, mine hits 6K at 60 well that might also be cause i have no mods just no resignator, but since i took that off i have been able to go past redline, to about 6700 rpms in second, i didnt look at the mph casue i was to worried my engine was going to shoot out of my hood, so i just watched the rpms. :p

Last time I got on it in my car I hit redline all the way through 3rd (didn't get past that...ran out of road). Maybe it's only in some cars and not others...

It is confusing, because it is ONLY in second gear.... It will not go faster than 60. Third.... well that is another story:D

Ok ive been meening to post this but just haevnt gotten around to it. My 94 stealth USED to hit red line and stay there at 60 mph. And about a month ago i took out my resignator and now i go past red line to 6500-6800 rpms and can hit about 65-6? mph never really looked. Keep in mind thats all ive done to my car is take out the resignator. I dont know how removing that would do this but it did, i now get one HELL of a top end.:D

But that is just the thing, It won't even get to redline in second. It will just stop going any faster than 60 mph, and the revs die until I shift into third. In third I can surpass redline if needed every time. It is NOT RPM related it IS speed related.

hmm, i would say get a preformance chip in it. I bielve mine has one but not sure i know the previous owner and i remember him saying somehting about it when i first bought the car 2 years ago. (i bought it from a dealer where he traded it in and then i met him after i bought it) So that could also be it to. Try to regap your plugs and see what that does, do a good tune up on it.

I don't know, the car pulls hard as hell compared to stock. What is this computer chip you speak of? Anywho, What RPM are you at when you reach 60MPH in 2nd gear? I am around 5,500.

Like a Performace Chip, not the whole ecu. im not really sure i havent checked on it yet. I used to be at 5,500 rpms when i hit 60 mph, but not i can go all the way to 6,500 rpms before the engine starts to bog out. I just kept trying to run it as far as i could past red line before it started to bog out and then just one day it went past red line and now it starts to bog out aroun d 6,800 rpms.

Let me rephrase this, how fast can you go in second gear.

my 3rd goes to 85, but i havent tried to push it past that, my 4th goes to 125, but i also havent tryed to push it past red line, and fith well i dont know. Keep in mind that mine is also a second gen, i dont think that would have to do any thing with it. ANd i havent advanced my timeing on my car eaither, i remove your advanced timeing and then try and see how fast u cna get second gear to go.

It did it before the timing was ever advanced.

I can go quite a bit faster than 85 in second gear though (and still be below redline). -Around 100mph
