The 99's didn't offer any change in performance, in fact they are the same as far as their inner workings. 99's are no different from 97 onward. Subtle changes in the mechanics were about all that was updated. Most changed were cosmetic. It would be nice to say that the 99's finaly came factory with 15 series turbos....but they didn't. Still the same 'ole TD-09.

AWD System:
Went from 4 degrees to 8 in the rear wheel steering.

Body:
New front clip design.
Fake glass panel finaly removed and made into a one peice design that makes more of a body panel, VR4 emblem placed instead of Twin Turbo.
Combat Spoiler.
'Bulging' headlamp/high beam pod.
slight change in curb weight, hardly noticeable.

Production:
Rumor for the longest time said 45 examples arrived in the USA, now new information with VIN's has shown that 1,000 or so VR-4's have made it to the USA.

TD-09's?????
I think you mean TD-04's.

AWS was discontinued in 95 or 96. No AWS on a 99 Vr-4.

Where did you get the info about 1000 of them in the us? 1000some were made, but only 45 were sold.

Whoops, yeah TD-04. Donno where 9 came from.

As for the facts, a 3SI member JoeG posted a website on information on the different years of 3K's and Stealths. The site has not been working or has been moved but the link was
here (http://www.geocities.com/lutransys/jlucius5/j5-2-production.htm)

Actually, the 99s do have 4 wheel steering.
The changes include the combat wing, new sail panels, new front-end with headlights. Also, the placement of the VR-4 logos have moved and the twin-turbo logos are gone. The 99s also have a revamped the climate control system. Mine is totally different from a 98 and older. I think the actual production numbers were 287 with 45 being sold in 99. Remember the 45 number is only sales for 1999 there were some sold in 98 and 2000.

AWS was taken out i believe in 96, a slight difference no one even remembers about is the climate control and the washer bottle is located in a different position under the hood
