ok, so i have about 800 bucks give or take a little to spend on some new (new to me) rims. so, I know this questions' been asked a million times, but what rims do you all think would look good on my car? I want to make sure I get the right ones, and also, how can I check if a certain set of rims fits my car? lemme know, some photoshopping would be great too if anyone has any free time, thanks!

you should go over to tire pros on montana by basset center. they have massive amounts of rims there.
let me do a couple of searches and see what i come up with though.

And another thing, Aint your car FWD (otherwise known as wrong wheel drive)?
Rear wings are to appy down force on the driving wheels for traction. ...Drrrr
This whole wing on FWD cars it getting out of hand...

It's a matter of personal taste. It's mundane and applies to not only cars. Those stupid pants come out with the "painted creases" on the thighs, and everyone starts wearing them. Some like it, some don't. Life goes on, and I think my time is better spent worrying about my personal taste rather than being concerned about others'.

When will your wheels be in? What kind of tires are you going to get?
GabeRT
- July 9th, 2002, 10:37 AM

Depends on your price range but I really like my Falkens. I wrote about them in the product review category. They only make them in 17"s also, so perfect fit.

how much were yours? i want something cheap.
Racer 007
- July 9th, 2002, 10:51 AM
Mine weren't very cheap.
Do you want h or z rated tires and what size? 225's? 40 or 45's?

Hey mofo, hurry up and get those rims on, so everyone stops talking about your wing already. Show us a pic when you get a chance. Oh, make sure to put then on the right way (sig pic:D :D :D ). Get the cheepest tires you can find. You don't have to buy Good Years or dunlops. They're basicly all the same, unless your racing hardcore and make sure they're "Z" rated. I have Kumho's. If your getting 17's get 45 series on 18's get 40 series. Your wheel might look big with 40 series on 17's, but you do have a biger drop than most.

z rated and im not sure what size
Racer 007
- July 9th, 2002, 11:15 AM
You saw mine. They are 45's. That would probably be pretty perfect on yours. 225 45ZR17's. Let me call up somebody and see what they have around that size. Probably looking at about $110-$120 per tire for the Z rated.

Hey Gabe, I called up Duke at Tire Pros and he doesn't have any Z rated Kuhmo's in stock. He would have to order them and it would take about a week. He does have the H rated Kuhmo's (711's) available for $119 each. Give him a call at 779-7106 and tell him that Richy sent ya.;) Kuhmo's would be the least expensive though.
Just so you know, the Z rated tires are going to run you quite a bit more. Mine were over $200 each.

I'm glad I have a hook up over here. I only pay $80 a tire. My buddy is a manager for a distributor that only sells to retailers, but I have to keep it on the DL and pay cash. Get 18's,18's,18's,18's,18's,18's,18's,18's,18's,18's
another thing get 18's:D
DJ Eric P.
- July 9th, 2002, 11:44 AM
Actually when I got mine it came with the tires for a total of $1500, but when my tires go bad I'm hitting my homie up. and get 18's, you'll shoot yourself if you don't.

i know z rated is for high speeds, whats h rated for?
DJ Eric P.
- July 9th, 2002, 11:49 AM
Z is the highest rating for speed. I'm not sure what speed H is rated for, but I know it's less than Z.
Racer 007
- July 9th, 2002, 11:59 AM
don't quote me but z is rated safe up to 168 mph and h is rated safe up to 157 mph
GabeRT
- July 9th, 2002, 12:20 PM
alright then, h will do just fine!

I could only make them stock size, otherwise the proportions would have been all off. but you get the idea.

ok guys, my rims are on. I got some 245's z-rated sumitomos for 130$ each. total was 600$ including 40,000 warranty etc etc etc. I also had to drive like 40 miles just to find some freakin "tuner lug nuts" because the old ones didnt fit. oh well, they're brand new and shiny. Unfortunately I lent out my digi camera to my friend who went on vacation so I can't take pics yet but OH MY GOD do they look goregous. It changed the entire look of my car, I agree when people say rims make the car. I have gotten so many compliments for them already I feel exhausted from saying "thank you"
lol. And my car now gets twice the amount of looks. I am extremely pleased. Unless richy comes over and takes some pics of them I wont be posting pics for a while.
btw, looks nothing like the photoshop hehe.

I don't have my cam in the car today. I can take pics pretty soon though. Let me know. I am dying to see them.
BTW, how did you get a treadlife warranty on z rated tires? Also, don't forget to get some wheel locks.
