Where to start! complete Newbie!

Ok here is an idea in how new I am to cars, I can change my headlights, and my tires. Oil Chage how do I do that? I have a socket set and a few other essential tools. My friend and I hope to take a course in automotive care at a local college this summer but, I want to start on my Stealth today! now for the really sad part, I am 27 and this is my 4th car. I used to always just take my ride to the shop and pay them but now with the Stealth, a little more love is demanded by the car.

1. Where should I start modifying my car? and how?
2. I have looked at "mod" chips but really dont want to screw up my car, and I have also seen the cone airfilter things to, are these worth while?
3.what tools, ramps, etc. should I buy to use on my car?

I just signed up so I dont have a sig yet, but I am joining in about 2 seconds! until then, I have a very stock 1994 R/T non-turbo. Thanks for your help! Oh and right now I only use ebay for stuff so I really need some good catolouge or magazine references to. FYI my friedn is working on aSaturn SC2 if ayone knows stuff about them!

Well first mod I would do is get rid of the stock air filter housing unit. Replace it with a K&N FIPK(Filter Injection Performance Kit) or something similar. These can be found on eBay or 3sxperformance.com under air filters. Also depending on the mileage, change the spark plugs and wires and fuel filter. These are not really performance parts but get the car running better.
As far as "mod" chips most are a joke. Dont waste your money. Most of them tap the ECU and trick the computer into thinking the car is getting colder air than it is or it advances the timing. These may work but there isnt any significant gain.
I dont know specifics on tools. I always forget socket sizes and such. Im sure someone else will be a little more helpful than me on that.

N/A=Intake/Exhaust/Underdrive pulley/Flywheel/all free mods (search for those)

Also, before you do this crap, make sure you got the basics; car is tuned, tires, etc..
